Anti-retaliation
(Aligned with the Grievance Policy)
At Soulage Collective Yoga Teacher Training, we are committed to maintaining a learning environment rooted in equity, accountability, transparency, and respect. In alignment with the program’s Grievance Policy, retaliation in any form is strictly prohibited.
Policy Statement
No trainee, instructor, mentor, staff member, or affiliated participant may retaliate against any individual for engaging in the grievance or reporting process outlined in the Grievance Policy.
Retaliation undermines the integrity of the grievance process and is considered a serious violation of program policy.
Scope and Application
This policy applies to all participants in the Yoga Teacher Training program, including but not limited to:
Teacher trainees
Lead trainers and assistant trainers
Mentors, guest teachers, and facilitators
Administrative staff and program leadership
This policy applies regardless of the outcome of a grievance or complaint.
Protected Activities Under the Grievance Policy
In accordance with the Grievance Policy, the following actions are protected and may not be met with retaliation:
Submitting a grievance, complaint, or concern in good faith
Participating in an informal or formal grievance resolution process
Providing information, documentation, or testimony related to a grievance
Supporting another individual in raising a concern or complaint
Declining to engage in conduct that violates program policies or stated values
A report or participation is considered to be made in good faith when it reflects an honest belief that a policy or value may have been violated, even if the concern is ultimately not substantiated.
Prohibited Retaliatory Conduct
Retaliation may be direct or indirect and includes, but is not limited to:
Intimidation, threats, or coercive behavior
Unjustified negative evaluations, grading decisions, or assessments
Exclusion from training activities, practicum opportunities, or community spaces
Alteration of schedules, roles, or responsibilities for punitive reasons
Social, professional, or reputational harm, including gossip or ostracization
Any conduct intended to discourage participation in the grievance process
Retaliation by peers, instructors, mentors, or administrators is equally prohibited.
Reporting Retaliation
Concerns regarding retaliation should be reported using the same reporting channels described in the Grievance Policy.
Reports of retaliation will be reviewed as separate and independent matters, even if related to an existing or previously resolved grievance.
Investigation and Resolution
Allegations of retaliation will be reviewed promptly and impartially, following the procedures outlined in the Grievance Policy. Confidentiality will be maintained to the extent possible while ensuring a fair and thorough review.
Consequences of Retaliation
Confirmed acts of retaliation constitute a serious policy violation and may result in corrective action, including but not limited to:
Written warnings or formal reprimand
Removal from teaching, mentoring, or leadership roles
Probation or dismissal from the Teacher Training program
Termination of instructional or contractual relationships
Disciplinary action will be determined in alignment with the Grievance Policy and program leadership discretion.
Commitment to a Culture of Accountability
Soulage Collective affirms that raising concerns, engaging in dialogue, and participating in grievance processes are essential components of ethical teaching and community care. The program is committed to protecting individuals who act with integrity and to upholding a learning environment where accountability is supported, not punished.
